The Original Sample:
I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know by Lydia Pense & Cold Blood
We’ve sampled this week’s sample before. I’m sure of it — just not this version though. And it was probably a throwback session from ’08 or ’09. I’m pretty sure it was the original version of this song, written and performed by Al Kooper from Blood, Sweat, & Tears’ classic debut album Child Is Father to the Man.
I knew there were several more covers of this song (e.g. Donny Hathaway), but I never knew of this week’s sample until recently. An amazing instrumental and arrangement with amazing vocals told from a women’s perspective courtesy of Cold Blood’s lead singer Lydia Pense. It’s an amazing cover and I look forward to digging thru this album more for WBS samples.
