Soco came through big this week with an amazing sample selection. Some of my favorite BeatSessions were the weeks where we’ve sampled progressive or psychedelic rock. And since it’s been awhile since we’ve sampled these genres, I asked Soco to find for us a band similar to Axis (e.g. BeatSession 08|22|11). We’ve sampled progressive rock from Greece and even psychedelic rock from Israel. But never Swedish progressive rock, until now.
This week’s sample comes from Kaipa’s debut self-titled album which was released back in 1975. Many of the melodies on this album originate from traditional Swedish folk songs. There’s a whole slew of sample worthy tracks on this album, so we’ll be sure to revisit this album in future sessions.
